Church History >> About Us

The Mission of Faith Baptist Church was organized in September 1977, under the leadership of Pastor Eugene L. Gibson Sr., with 72 members. Experiencing rapid growth and dedicated members, the church moved to its present location in 1978 and became affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention.

From its acceptance into the Southern Baptist Convention, Mission of Faith received numerous awards and Dr. Gibson assumed various leadership positions within the convention.

After thirteen years of faithfulness, building renovations and much prayer, MOFBC burned its mortgage in 1990.
The year 1998 was a sorrowful one for the MOFBC Family, but also a testimony of servanthood and leadership.  On March 10, 1998, God called Pastor Gibson to his heavenly reward.  In October 1998, four ministers, who sat under his tutelage were ordained.  For four years, following his homegoing, Mission of Faith was nurtured by Rev. Charlie Butler.

Another chapter, in the life of MOFBC was written in 2002.  Rev. Michael L. Randle was installed as Pastor.  Under his leadership, the church evolved to offer a moderate blend of traditional and contemporary worship styles. In 2008, Rev. Randle relocated to Nevada to further his ministry.

After much prayer, the Lord blessed us with a new pastor, Rev. Gregory Seal Livingston, in January 2011.   Following three years of powerful, anointed leadership, Rev. Livingston resigned to pursue other avenues of ministry.

Rev. Johnny D. McClellan, Sr., one of the Associate Ministers was placed into the position of Interim Pastor.  With a heart for serving God and his people, MOFBC installed him as Pastor, in June 2015.  The church is growing, ministries are flourishing and new programs are being developed.  Again, Mission of Faith will be the beacon light amongst God’s people and communities.
